Photovoltaic systems for companies
Costs, profitability and sample calculation
Climate change is real and we are the cause. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, thousands of industrial roofs are vacant. The economic potential of these buildings could be put to good use. Only now, due to the current energy crisis, is it becoming clear that natural resources should also be used from the point of view of independence.
Agricultural businesses, production halls and warehouses, office complexes, but also schools and other public facilities can be put to good use with the use of photovoltaics. This is because industrial companies require more and more electricity for production. Together with our partner company IGT-Mikrolink GmbH, we develop such areas for the construction of solar systems. With inexpensive solar power, costs can be significantly reduced and electricity can be generated without CO2 emissions. So you too can invest in the future. Our customers include energy suppliers, industrial companies and investment companies.
We ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely. We accompany all processes from planning to installation on site and the ongoing operation of the systems.
PV systems are worthwhile for companies of all types and sizes. In this section, you will find out how much a commercial PV system costs, after how many years it typically pays for itself and why a high level of self-consumption is crucial - including a sample calculation.
Costs of a photovoltaic system
PV systems for companies cost around EUR 1,150 to EUR 1,350 per kilowatt of peak photovoltaic output, including AC connection to the public grid. AC stands for "Alternating Current" and means alternating current. The PV system generates direct current (DC), which is converted into alternating current by the inverter.
A turnkey PV system with an output of 300 kWp would therefore cost around EUR 400,000 (rough calculation of photovoltaic output: roof area divided by 5; 1,500 m2 roof area divided by 5 = 300 kilowatts peak)
Solar modules
How much a PV system ultimately costs depends primarily on the choice of components and the personnel costs of the installation company. The prices of PV modules in particular fluctuate depending on the manufacturer, availability and quality. Currently, you can expect a high-quality monocrystalline PV module (420-440 watts) to cost between €160 and €200. Particularly powerful modules can even reach a unit price of up to €400; however, these also achieve a correspondingly higher solar yield.
Amortization
Solar power from your own company roof costs between 8 and 10 cents per kilowatt hour. This makes it significantly cheaper than electricity from the public grid. Depending on the electricity tariff, a commercial PV system pays for itself after six to 12 years. The service life of such a PV system is 25 years or more.
Our customer's 300 kWp PV system has a projected payback period of just five years. PV systems for companies can be financed at low interest rates via KfW programs.
Feed-in tariff
You also feed your own solar power, which you do not consume directly in your company, into the public grid in return for a fixed feed-in tariff. This so-called feed-in tariff is 7.5 ct/kWh (up to 40 kWp) or 6.2 ct/kWh (up to 750 kWp) if the PV system is commissioned in 2023. The feed-in tariff is paid over the first 20 years of operation of the PV system and for the remainder of the installation year.
